Course Description

This 2-week course culminates in a capstone project where everyone builds their own professional website highlighting their talents and/or interests. Through project-based curriculum, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the core languages of Web Development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery). While you are mastering the fundamentals of Web Development, we’ll be introducing tools and workflows used by professional software developers such as the Terminal, Sublime Text, Git, and GitHub. Whether you are applying for a job, starting a blog, or even starting your own business, building a professional website is a valuable step along the way!

Prerequisite: None. No coding experience necessary!

St. Luke's School will provide laptops for each student. If you'd like to bring your MacBook from home, we'll be happy to help you set it up. Daily snacks will also be provided.

What's an average day like?

An average day at Codebug is fun and challenging! We've put together a daily schedule so you can get a glimpse into a Codebug session.

Do we need our own computer?

No, Codebug + St. Luke's School will be providing MacBooks for all the students registered for the course! If you'd like to bring your MacBook from home, we'll be happy to help you set it up. 

What do we do for lunch?

Who are the instructors?

Those enrolled in the Summer 2020 courses will be taught by our founders Sarah and McArthur. Sarah's 4 years as a certified math teacher, combined with her time as a professional software developer, allow her to stand out in the world of coding teachers. McArthur has over 9 years of software development experience, so the Summer 2020 Codebuggers are in good hands!

Our summer sessions will not have lunch provided. Snacks, of course, will be provided!

If your child has any food-related allergies, let us know! We are happy to accommodate any allergies.

Is coding experience necessary?

No previous coding experience is necessary! We accept people with little to no coding knowledge and teach them the basics of web development using best practices and the same tools as professionals!
